The Black Swan

This movie has probably received multiple reviews because of all the awards but after watching the movie, I could not help myself. My review might be a little different from the others because I am not raving about how wonderful the movie was.

I had received awesome reviews about this movie so I went with really high expectations from this movie. It is wrong to do that because you build up big images in your head and most movies never live up to that. This movie to some level reached the levels of expectation like acting or editing. When it came to the actual movie I was disappointed because I was left confused at the end. I could not find a central theme in the movie and a lot of questions were raised if certain things were necessary.

On further research I found that the whole point of the movie was to confuse you. It is a movie where you do not know when reality end and when the fantasy world takes over. It is a scary concept because who knows what someone who suffers from this disease is imagining. Back to the movie, it made me think a lot and in retrospect I realised the director and storyteller achieved exactly what they wanted,because the movie stuck in people's head and they went back so that they could understand it better. I did not go back but I did discuss it with everyone I know and hence in a way promoted the movie even though I was not overly impressed by it. Personally I feel everyone should watch it because even though it leaves you confused, it is well made and the acting is exemplary.
