Grow Up

So this weekend on my trip to San Jose I heard the most inane comments. I mean don't people grow up? 

It started out with "Oh Bindi is the only single girl, we need to find her a guy ..Oh wait no, a girl" This was after watching me flirt with a number of boys in a bar. Really how is that entertaining anymore. I have had a boyfriend for 3yrs and other interactions after that. Seriously I don't get it. Just because a girl is single and a tomboy, she has to be a lesbian. What kind of a weird, childish assumption is that.



Then the other regular comments,"hey you look like a girl"..well what do you expect me to look like, I was born a girl so cannot look like anything else unless I change my sex or species. Or the one with an exclamation, " You own makeup" or "You look nice". OK I sort of understand the makeup part because I never owned any in undergrad but it has been 5 years since.The you look nice in a tone of astonishment just infuriates me. Why can't I look nice, is there something wrong with that. Am I supposed to look like scum all my life. I do go to work and have an active social life so my personal appearance is a lot more important then it was in college. Don't these people realise that everyone grows up at some point and you can't just live with that image from college all your life.
