Ignorance & Presumptions

Met some random guy with a friend on Saturday and listening to him talk,made me wonder if we should sometimes just duct tape some people's mouths. I know that might sound brutal to some people but listening to someone like him talk for a prolonged period of time can be detrimental to any one's brain and also lead to severe violence in some cases.

We were sitting in the bar and he notices posters all around of different towns like Frankfurt, Bremen and he blurts out,"Oh! I didn't know this was a German bar". Guess what the name of the bar was,Heidelberg and guess what the entire menu was full of, German beer and food. Now the name itself is a giveaway but if you are not smart enough, the menu definitely is a sure bet. Obviously our pal here was not as observant till he saw the pictures on the wall. Then since he was so excited about it being a German bar, someone asked him if he had ever been to Germany and he replied, "Yeah I have lots of friends in Germany". Seriously how is that an answer to, if he has been to Germany. Minor error in comparison to all the other rubbish he was shelling out.

After that he started talking to another friend of mine who is Kashmiri and instructed her about how she should go to Kashmir with her boyfriend coz he had been there. Now he went with an army convoy with maximum security and he was in no one is an easy target being a Punjabi but on the other hand my friend is a Kashmiri pandit and her boyfriend, a nice blond American. When asked the question,"don't you think that would be a security problem?". He retorts back saying,"It's all in your mind, people just think it is dangerous, it is not as bad as it looks." I think someone failed to tell our friend that there has been a war going on there for the last 63yrs and an American is a prime target for kidnapping and a kashmiri pandit for killing. My friend looked like she was going to punch him because he kept telling her that she just did not know what was going on in reality in the place she has been itching to go all her life and can't. Its just ridiculous the way he kept reiterating that the rest of us had no clue about the nonexistent turbulence. Some people just don't know when to draw the line and check their facts before shooting out of their ass.
