My New Job

Last week they moved me to my new work place on the west side of the plant to start up #4 blast furnace. Its a new job but it is step back into history. The old place I worked in, #7 furnace has the latest technology and most of the times it runs like a well oiled machine. In comparison, this place is a dinosaur. No offense meant but the automation engineers who were running it, one of them who is still around has his brain still in the 16th century. His resistance to upgrade anything is just obvious and his attitude to constantly complain about this old system, he has to maintain is also there. Forget him and his job, the systems I am going to maintain are written in Fortran. My teachers didn't teach that in school because they claimed it was an old language and not in use anymore. Maybe I should call those school teachers from 15yrs ago and show them the stuff I am going to work on at my NEW JOB because for sure I am working with languages and machines that were ancient even before I was born. So is my new job really a NEW JOB...maybe I should call it my OLD JOB.
