The Journey to India

It all started with me saying its time to pack the bags and move back home. Did not know what life had in store, did not know the choices I would make. Had done an internship with One Laptop per Child but it was a vacation in comparison to what life had in store as I moved it back east.

Returning home, joining a non profit, traveling to places in India that I had never imagined about was a restart of sorts. Started out in Mumbai and then very soon moved to Delhi. The City of Djinns, Delhi with its sufi culture, delicious food and history on every corner was a whole new introduction to India. Delhi was refreshing but what made me fall in love with my country all over again was Rajasthan. The dessert, the colors, the food, all an assault to the senses which you could not ignore and it became a part of you. Three years spent in villages of Rajasthan and the fancy lanes of Delhi made me realize that I was home and there was no other place I could think of to spend the rest of my life.

With Delhi and Rajasthan started the journey with Kaivalya Education Foundation , the crazy Gandhi fellows and the social sector in India. All of it was an eye opener, a new vision in life to create impact after seeing the real India. Started out with a goal to create solutions for children in India and ended up creating them for adults cause we all know aren't they always the problem. What I learned or actually unlearned when spending those endless days in Rajasthan and Gujarat was that its not easy to change the world, its not simple to create impact but I wanted to do it. I might not have a direction on how to do it but I knew this Journey to India was worth it and I could never go back to corporate and do the 9-5 job.As they say I found my meaning in life !!
