Section Experience

People always talk about the section experience at Harvard and how great it is. We have had alumni come in and tell us about how they still are in touch with fellow section mates. So I guess when I heard about these stories, I went into my section expecting awesome friendships and connections that I would have for life. 

I love my section and have a really good time partying, drinking and learning in class but I don't think I have any of those friendships that the alumni talk about. I am not an exception, there are numerous people I have talked to who feel the same way. A lot of people talk about how superficial the relationships are because we are forced to be together in class and then we hang out together because we know no one else. Not that I don't enjoy with these 90 different acquaintances but friends I would call none. 

Maybe I am being too hasty in judging this whole section experience. I do have one more semester in close proximity to them so maybe in april next year my story might be a little different.
