You are a girl...They want more girls so, its easy for you

This is the comment I heard from a fellow friend's boyfriend. This very person was attempting to enter business school but was unsuccessful so not sure if this statement was made because of a case of sour grapes or just because he is so full of himself. I would say a combination of both. I very nicely dismissed his attempt at trying to show that I was an idiot to have worked for 6months because the sheer fact of me being a girl would have opened doors for me.

That was one example but I have heard this sentiment being reiterated by multiple others after that and obviously all happen to be guys. They might be right to some respect that a lot of business schools are trying to attract female applicants but then they are also trying to attract people from the world of operations. Now me having the latter experience of four years instead of the 28 of being a girl might have been the deciding factor for the admission. Or the fact that I have a personality and like to indulge in different aspects of life besides work. I am sure if there was a guy with the exactly same profile they might have picked me because I am a girl but thats a one in a million chance and from what I have seen at admit weekend there are hardly any with my background girl or guy.

I am not bragging and trying to prove that I am better then anyone. All I am saying is before making a stupid comment of that sort, one should think and look at the rest of the package instead of just one attribute. I just have no tolerance for ignorance and so the above mentioned person receive a volley of comments over the course of the dinner that made him realize his folly.
